Avionics Systems Engineer

Various Responsibilities:

  • Responsible engineer for the integration of payloads; this includes creating the integration architecture and design documentation
  • Oversees and supports integration of avionics equipment onto the Alpha vehicle in an AS9100 certified environment
    ▪ Performs checkouts of avionics components by designing electrical tests and using Python scripts for data collection
    ▪ Works with designers to create and layout components in the vehicle; ensures that these designs meet the electrical and mechanical requirements of avionics hardware
    ▪ Presents design details to other departments during technical reviews; collects feedback and implements necessary design changes


Freelance Mechanical Engineer

December 2019 – May 2020

I designed the enclosure for a wearable consumer electronic device. My design work took into account the desired style for the product while balancing cost and ease of assembly. The enclosure includes a snap fit mechanism which allows the unit to be assembled without tools.

U.S. Army, Combat Capabilities Development Command

Electronics Engineer

June 2010 – March 2020

While working as an Army civilian at the Armaments Center my primary focus was on advancing the Army’s current and future remote weapon system (RWS) capabilities. In various roles I applied my domain knowledge to design, build, and demonstrate advanced RWS technologies.

Select Accomplishments:

  • I redesigned the electronics architecture of an existing prototype RWS so that it could be safely operated over a wireless network. This system is still in use by the Army to demonstrate wireless armed robotics. (Link)
  • I led a team which designed and produced a wireless controller which was capable of operating an array of unmanned systems. I created the mechanical design concepts, embedded electronics, and oversaw the embedded firmware development.
